why we exist

For those aged 16 to 24 in the UK, unemployment recently soared to 16.1%, the highest level in almost a decade.

Young people are increasingly facing the consequences of a stalled career, without the fair support they deserve to get started.

At Steppers, we are here to support young people in making the next step in their careers and to bring opportunities directly to them.

To empower & equip young people to create opportunities and positively shape their futures.

the mission

WHY STEPPERS?

Each young person will receive monthly personalised mentoring sessions specific to their interests, either face-to-face or online. These sessions educate individuals on opportunities relevant to their interests and create an introductory pathway. We actively support each person throughout this process and provide a soundboard for any questions they have along the way.

PERSONAL SUPPORT AND MENTORING

Through our experience working across multiple sectors and within industry-leading organisations, we have a strong, diverse network of partners and contacts. This provides our mentees with direct access to varied career-development opportunities, from work experience and apprenticeships to full-time roles.

NETWORK ACCESS

Steppers was founded by two neurodivergent individuals in their mid-twenties who recently made the transition from education into careers. We have a current, first-hand understanding of the step young people are having to make.

FIRST-HAND EXPERIENCE

Trauma is NOT a requirement, but we have hands-on experience supporting young people from a range of backgrounds - including those from the care system and individuals with special educational, social, emotional or mental health needs.

Steppers works closely with mental health specialists, ADHD coaches and social workers. This ensures we’re well-equipped to support a wide variety of people while also constantly growing ourselves.

TRAUMA-INFORMED APPROACH

Combining experience, practical knowledge, and a strong network - we empower the next generation.
